SNL FACTS (Bill Hader Edition)

  • This will be the 769th overall episode
  • This is Bill’s first time hosting
  • Bill is the first SNL cast member to host on SNL’s anniversary (October 11th).
  • He will become the 2nd male cast member who was hired in the 2000s to come back to host. (The first was Andy Samberg).
  • Out of Season 31 (2005-06), 5 other cast members have come back to host (Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Maya Rudolph, Kristen Wiig, Andy Samberg).  Bill will now become the sixth cast member from that season.  The last time we had that amount from one cast was the 2001 season.  Those also tie the amount from other seasons from the early 1990s (Seasons 16, 17, 18 and 20).
  • Bill will now become the 32nd overall cast member to come back to host, the 25th male cast member to host, and the 28th cast member overall who was hired by Lorne to host.
  • Sarah Silverman hosted last week.  The last time SNL had back to back weeks where the host were former cast members was way back in the 1997-98 season (Season 23).  Chris Farley hosted and the next host was Jon Lovitz.
  • This will be Hozier’s first time as musical guest

"Well, there’s been extraordinary talent, let’s get real. I don’t want to start listing names because there’s too many that I would forget, but between Eddie Murphy and [Dana] Carvey and Mike Myers and Will Ferrell and so forth … I think Bill Hader probably did the best work anyone ever did on that show … It took him a little while to get going, but once he got going it was extraordinary."

I had to post  this part of the SNL documentary because it’s honestly the best part. Mulaney is hilarious and the fart soundboard is just as amazing as it sounds
